Original Sin and Death of Wolverine leave the boys with plenty to say about the state of the Marvel Universe. Plus a slew of Future's End issues this week, and comics from Image, Dynamite, and BOOM! Studios, like Cloaks, Ex-Con, and God Hates Astronauts and you've got a recipe for a great roundtable episode with the original cast of Pete's Basement! Wait did somebody say recipe? Holy Hell, man! Be more careful around that many fat guys! Just download the episode already!
Pete and Pete begrudgingly make good on their bet with CollectorsComic.com creator Eddie DeAngelini and don their Kings championship shirts for this episode. The last two weeks saw a lot of great #1’s from Image, Dynamite, and BOOM!, including The Empty Man, The Blood Queen, Eye of Newt, and Thomas Alsop. Also Wildfire, Edward Grey: Tales of Unland, and The Lone Ranger! Who won the Zenith Press D-Day Giveaway? Who would win in a fight: Magneto or Galactus? Were the boys right about Nick Fury in Original Sin? Get to downloading and find out!
D-Day is upon us. Pete, Ramon, and Cheezeburger pay respect to those brave men who fought and died to defeat Nazi Germany as they review Normandy: A Graphic History of D-Day from Zenith Press-- the graphic novel that proves learning about history can be engaging and entertaining! Plus surprise hits Princess Ugg, Rise of the Magi, and Ghost Wolf, the weird but interesting Superannuated Man, Dynamite takes another stab at Vampirella, and all the craziness of Original Sin!
Illustrator and animator, Noella Borie, joins the Basement Crew to show off her new stop-motion animated feature Faceless Neil: Out of the Darkness! BOOM Studios holds the honor of Book of the Week! And the boys round out the roundtable discussion with offerings from Dynamite, Marvel, and DC, like Future's End, Chaos, Cyclops, Ultimate Spider-Man, and a crazy horror murder-mystery from Image appropriately titled Nailbiter.
The boys list their Top 5 Episodes of Batman: The Animated Series. And speaking of cartoons, Batman gets roofied as the fellas review DC's newest animated feature: Son of Batman. Two weeks worth of books round out this week's episode, including Ultimate FF, Hulk, Solar: Man of the Atom, Elektra, Conan, the return of Jack Bauer in 24, Original Sin, and more!
Pete talks about The Amazing Spider-Man movie, but has not yet seen Batman. Ramon saw Batman. Steve saw Batman, but Steve saw it after the show was filmed. We were unable to have Steve review it from the future because Pete got rid of his bowflex*. Oh, and they talk about comics too!
*See Season 3, Episode 52.
