According to Alan Taylor director of the new Thor movie, Joss Whedon was "airlifted in" like some kind of comicdom SWAT team to rewrite a few scenes that "weren't working". Joss is kind of like a comic book geek senator. He gets in there and makes sure our geekiest interests are represented. Plus he's got the writing chops to make sure it also doesn't, you know, plain suck for everyone else. And thank god for that.
