Superhero Movies 2014

With all the excitement of Captain America: The Winter Soldier this passed weekend, let us not forget that there are other superhero movies coming out in 2014 to be excited about! It is a busy year for us nerds, and that may mean a lot of torn decisions on where to spend hard-earned geek money! Priorities, priorities!

The Amazing Spider-Man 2 is next up on May 2nd. With all the hub-bub, tickets have already gone on pre-sale this week in anticipation of the crowds. Regal through Fandango is offering an Amazing Spider-Man 2 Superticket which is cool VIP package that gives you a ticket to the movie, and digital downloads to BOTH The Amazing Spider-Man Part One, AND part two before it's DVD release. Just swing over here, find your tickets, and select Superticket at checkout.

The Amazing Spider-Man 2 promises lots of action as Peter Parker is put to the test against a crap ton of villains and challenges thrown at him by Oscorp.

X-Men Days of Future Past is out later that month on May 23rd. Or rather, Wolverine Part 5 it out. We had a little break from him in X-Men: First Class , but he's back. YAY (Yawn). The X-Men send Wolverine to the past in a desperate effort to change history and prevent an event that results in doom for both humans and mutants.

I can't say I give a hoot about X-Men anymore, and that is very sad. How hopefully I was when the first movie came out. It was good. I hated my favorite character Rogue, but I lived.

The second movie was pretty good too, but it was all downhill from there. Why Fox, why? Regardless, you can sign up for the X-Men: Days of Future Past Fan Alert which will let you know when the tickets go on pre-sale in your area.

Transformers: Age of Extinction kicks off the Summer blockbusters on June 27th. It's been a while since the Transformers have been around, and when a mechanic and his daughter discover one in their garage, it's like Roswell up in there bringing government officials and investigators down on them. Sign up for  the Transformers: Age of Extinction Fan Pre-Order Alert.

Hercules is a superhero right? Well, he is a super powered God, so why not!? On July 25th, Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson is Hercules. In probably what is way too typical casting for me, Hercules, now a mercenary, travels with five companions to Greece selling his services and using his reputation to intimidate everyone who looks at him strange. This is when he gets sucked into helping the ruler of Thrace and his daughter defeat a bunch of savages and the warlord who rules them.

Guardians of the Galaxy continues the Summer Blockbusters on August 1st  I CANNOT WAIT! Let's watch the awesome sci-fi adventure that The Green Lantern movie should have been and eat popcorn to our hearts content. I'm eager to see my Rocket and Groot, man!

When Starlord gets caught stealing a strange relic that appears to be one of the infinity stones, he teams up with a rag-tag group of alien prisoners to bust out to stop the damage the relic migh cause and save the galaxy. Or guard the galaxy, rather! Sigin up for the Guardians of the Galaxy Fan Pre-Order Alert.

The Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles is hot on the trails of Guardians of the Galaxy on August 8th, and the recently released trailer has left a lot of fans somewhat open minded to what the movie may actually bring. With the release of TMNT, fans will finally have their fears put to rest with surprised amazement, or will blow up the internet with an echo of "I told you so's" and Michael Bay screw-yous.

Darkness falls over the five boroughs of NYC as The Shredder and his bad-ass Foot Clan have their thumb in all the official pies from police to politicians. When four mutant turtles hit the scene and rise from the sewers, they work with fearless reporter April O'Neil and her camera man Vernon to save the city from Shredders diabolical plan, which may or may not have something to do with April's Pops. Sign up for the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Fan Pre-Order Alert.

Lucy, starring Scarlett Johansson is also out on August 8th. It is not a superhero movie, persay, but definitely super powered.

Lucy gets forced into being a drug mule when she wakes up to having a package of strange drugs inserted into her lower abdomen. When something goes wrong, and the bag begins to leak, she starts to access more of her brain and body's potential.

Now being super smart and essentially super powered, she has to get the leaking drugs removed from her body and avoid the assholes who put it in there in the process! Watch the trailer for Lucy here. It looks awesome!

Sin City: A Dame to Kill For is the sequel to Frank Miller's Sin City out on August 22nd, making it quite the busy month.

Robert Rodriguez returns to direct several stories of Sin City characters crossing paths, along with some new stories and characters made for the movie too. A newbie includes Joseph Gordon Levitt, who plays Johnny, a mysterious gambler set on taking down his sworn enemy in a high stakes game of life and death.

Mickey Rourke, Rosario Dawson, Jessica Alba, and Jaime King return for the Dimension Films release, with Jamie Chung and Dennis Haysbert stepping into roles left by Devin Aoki and the late Michael Duncan Clarke. Sign up for  the Sin City: A Dame to Kill For Fan Pre-Order Alert.

Other action or super-ish movies out this year are the reboot of Godzilla, Edge of Tomorrow, Dawn of the Planet of the Apes, Dracula Untold and Intersteller
