Spoiler Free Captain Marvel Review - Breaking Nerd News

Captain Marvel is witty, snarky, funny & logical. The 90's tone is embracing rather than forced upon even though the soundtrack to the movie is Effin bananas, while the pace of the movie is very smooth.

Welcome to the first installment of Breaking Nerd News! First off by the time you read this post, I would have seen Captain Marvel three times. Once, as a fan, once as a critic, and once to look for easter eggs that I missed. That being said, this is a very direct review!

I was extremely happy watching this movie. To the jackals who wanted to hate on the movie because it has a female lead, you should be ashamed of yourselves, because it was pretty damned good.

Jude Law was not worthless in this movie. I thought he was just there to be pretty, but he added to the mystery of the film. I also feel Annette Benning was a little more enjoyable than I expected. Both Benning and Law play huge roles in the movie, but not in the way you expect it.

The relationship between Carol and Maria is both inspiring and refreshing to see onscreen, but the true star, Maria Rambeau played awesomely by Lashana Lynch and Monica Rambeau played by the wonderful Akira Akbar. Lynch's portrayal of Maria showed her range as an actress because of the emotions and reactions she expressed during certain scenes and situations.

Little Monica Rambeau, aka Lt Trouble, gives you a joy that you havent felt in quite some time when she comes onscreen. The chemistry onscreen between Carol and both the Rambeaus is just magic especially with Samuel L. Jackson respectfully complimenting the scenes.

Talos played by Ben Mendelsohn also steals the movie with his character and his journey through the film. His playful, yet sarcastic tone in the movie is refreshing, and you are torn about how you should feel about his character.

In closing, this is a great way to incorporate new fans to the Marvel Cinematic Universe as well as satisfy the diehard fans HIGHER, FURTHER and FASTER.

Breaking Nerd Nerd (#BNNReviews) gives Captain Marvel 8.5 out of 10.
