Robert Rodriguez Directs Remake of Frank Frazetta's Fire And Ice

Robert Rodriguez is a pretty acclaimed director. Let's run down the list:

  • Machete
  • Machete Kills
  • Sin City
  • Grindhouse's Planet Terror, which sported Rose McGowen blasting zombies with a machine gun for a leg.
  • From Dusk Til Dawn -- I LOVE YOU SALMA!!
  • Desperado -- Seriously, Salma, if you're reading this, we can live very comfortably together off of my comic collection! The offer is on the table.
  • Spy Kids -- C'mon, every guy's got a soft side!

Well, now fresh off Machete Kills, and with Sin City 2: A Dame To Kill For currently in the works, Robert Rodriguez has officially announced his newest project: A live-action remake of 1983's classic animated film Fire And Ice, by Ralph Bakshi and the legendary Frank Frazetta. His goal is to use the same technology used for Sin City, so that it feels like the viewer has literally stepped into one of Frank's paintings!

Fans of the original animated feature will undoubtedly recognize the character of Darkwolf has certain striking similarities to Frazetta's most famous creation, The Death Dealer.

The script should be finished in the next month or so, and then he'll be ready to begin preproduction. As a big Frazetta fan himself, Rodriguez is looking forward to showcasing the Brooklyn artist's work and showing him off to a whole new generation of fans.

Rodriguez was quoted as saying, “I’m really excited about that. For Frazetta fans, this will be the ultimate tribute to what he did, and inspired so many people. I think it’s going to be pretty powerful when people see it.”
