Preacher Adds Ruth Negga as Tulip O'Hare to AMC's Pilot

Reverend Jesse Custer's total bad ass, bitch on wheels, ex girlfriend has been cast in AMC's Preacher pilot, coming sometime in 2016. The role of Tulip O'Hare (the volatile, take-no-shit, fashionista who likes to blow crap up) will be played by Ruth Negga, most recently seen as Raina on Marvels' Agents of S.H.E.I.L.D.

Preacher is based on the 1990s comic by Garth Ennis and Steve Dillon. Written by Sam Catlin, and directed by Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg, Preacher is based on the 1990's comic by the twisted Garth Ennis and Steve Dillion.

Tulip will accompany the preacher of lost faith, Jesse Custer, and their vampire friend, Cassidy, on a quest to find out why God has left heaven and abandoned his Godly duties. You can't just walk out on stuff like that, you know? With danger on Jesse's tail, it's a good thing Tulip is a crack shot with any gun. She also won't hesitate to shiv any fools who try to step up and be tough. Take a seat, fellas!

Tulip O'Hare is portrayed as Caucasian in the books. Irish, presumably, by the last name. Ruth Negga is a mix of Ethiopian and Irish, giving a nice and realistic touch of ethnicity to the show which the original book doesn't seem to have too much of. Negga has also been in Jimi: All Is By My Side, Breakfast on Pluto, World War Z. You can also look forward to seeing her in the Duncan Jones adaption of the wildly popular video game World of Warcraft.

I am looking forward to this show. I hope it is going to be as blasphemous as the book!
